I live in Nashua so is there somewhere in the Merrimack area I could put myself in order to get some pictures with the least likely-hood of interfering with these special birds. I grew up in rural Maine and watched a pair of these beautiful birds force a seagull to give up it's catch by alternately diving at it. I never forgot that experience.

Re: NH bald eagle count was good

Well, that makes me feel better. My little pup does kill rabbits, and also moles, then leaves the dead carcasses. Perhaps they were looking for her left-overs.

J

Re: NH bald eagle count was good

Whoa - cool. Er, I mean, whoa - scary! You live in a neat place.

I've never heard of bald eagles feeding on anything except fish or carrion. They're basically scavengers, not hunters: They don't hunt much in the way of land animals. This page (http://www.baldeagleinfo.co... says they can life four pounds, so they certainly couldn't carry off your dog. Would they attack her? I would guess not.

Re: NH bald eagle count was good

I have a question for you Dave.

I live in an area where there are some bald eagles. I have a little dog, a 12 pound West Highland White Terrier. I've seen the bald eagles circling above my house at a certain time each day, but only when my dog is outside. Once when I was heading outside to get my dog, I saw one of the eagles swooping down, then when it saw me, it flew up and past me.

I've read conflicting stories. Should I be concerned about the eagles picking up my pup and flying off with her?

Janice
